The Listening Biennial

The Listening Biennial is a biennial exhibition and network focusing on listening as a practice and topic. Each edition is centered around a curated selection of participating artists commissioned to produce new audio works guided by particular curatorial concepts and questions. The works are presented across a constellation of partner institutions, spaces and venues located in different regions of the world, each of whom are invited to host the Biennial in their unique way. Alongside the exhibition of audio works, public programs of related events are organized, involving local artists, researchers, curators and institutions, creating a diverse range of activity and exchange. Through such an approach, The Listening Biennial is positioned as a cooperative, decentered biennial fostering listening cultures, as well as ways of listening across languages, communities and places.
